This helmet is modelled after those depicted in use by Vikings, Normans and early Crusaders in the 10th-11th centuries. The four plate design, assembled with flush-filed rivets, is archaeologically substantiated, and examples of this style of helmet are one possible interpretation of what is depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry.
Our version is made of 16 gauge steel. All rivets, both flush and dome-headed, have a 3/16” diameter shank. The standard helmet is given a satin finish, and oiled for rust prevention. A chin-tie is included in the price of the helmet. All armour is made to the measurements you provide.
Additional options:
-period specific buckle for chinstrap (+$40)
-leather suspension liner (+$60)
-rough-from-hammer or smooth satin finish (free)
